Welcome back, September
We flew back to London this Friday and I’ve been slowly readjusting to city life. The English weather has been delightfully mild this weekend (which is a nice surprise) yet the pavements are slowly turning into this vibrant tapestry of autumn colours as brown, red, green and yellow leaves chase each other down the street.
Fall is my favourite season because, still invigorated by summer, I take leaps and start a plethora of new things. Scraps of short stories, knits, drawings and unfinished jewellery pieces will soon take permanent residency on my desk, dining table and night stand. Yes, I live with a very accommodating man.
To me, September is about playfulness, stealing a piece of those last few warm days, stocking up on cosy clothing and pretty stationery, having friends over for dinner and enjoying a heartwarming glass of chianti on the balcony.
It’s about strolling on Cleaver Square where my neighbours challenge each other at pétanque, getting freshly baked dark chocolate chip cookies out of the oven, packing peanut butter squares for a friend and finishing those summer reads as the holiday spirit seems to linger on.
N.B: This post is part of #StylingTheSeasons, an editorial challenge (for the fun of it) organised by Lottie at Lotts and Lots and Katy at Apartment Apothecary; look for the hashtag on social media to find others. In the meantime, I hope you’ll enjoy these steals of my flat in the September mid-afternoon light.
