Brunch at Pedler, Peckham Rye
Where have the last two weeks gone? I have been quite busy at work recently and a little pause on the home front was very much welcome, so Rob and I made a dash for Paris for a long weekend. My sister and her boyfriend welcomed us with a great healthcare weight loss program of things to do and we enjoyed the city as almost-locals, falling more than a little in love with it. I am making a little city guide for you, which I’ll share in the coming weeks – stay tuned. Other than that, I’ve been reading a lot; I came back from France with a huge list of romans noir to get through, and they’ve been great companions to enjoy the summer weather that London surprised us with this August.
Today I’m catching up on blog posts for the next few weeks at one my favourite places in South London to get some work done: the design-friendly lounge of citizenM Bankside. When I was working in Borough, I often arranged meetings here, stopped by after work to get some writing finished, or meet friends for a drink in the evening. It always has a nice atmosphere because the hotel attracts young creative professionals who are on business trips or weekend getaways, there’s plenty of room to sit and nobody bothers you if you come with your laptop. If you’re a bit of a digital nomad you should definitely pop by. They have three locations in the city: Bankside, Shoreditch and the Tower of London.
Interestingly, they also curate an online magazine with recommendations for things to do/places to go to in the city and this is where I had spotted a review of Pedler in Peckham Rye. “Seasonally influenced food, sourced from locals including butchers Allen’s of Mayfair, The Bread Factory, and Little Bird Gin”? Sold. I made a booking to go last Saturday morning for Brunch. Discovering the venue was a lovely surprise, which ticked all my interiors-obsessed boxes: exposed brick, salvaged wooden floors, vintage furniture and a boho look done well – Pedler is definitely chic, but relaxed about it. Every little detail from the menus to the cutlery shows great care and taste.
Our brunch was delicious; we opted for a mix of savoury and sweet plates that we shared between us. There were so many tasty options on the menu it was definitely not easy to order. Take a look for yourself:

What do you think, appetising no?
We really had a great time at Pedler and it’s going straight into my little black book. Whether you’re looking for a great brunch, cocktails, or a dinner, I’d really recommend a visit. Trust me you won’t be disappointed. For those of you who may feel that Peckham Rye is a trek – let me stop you right there: it’s barely half an hour on the bus or train from London Bridge, and added bonus, to walk off your feast you can head South through East Dulwich and discover the darling world of Lorsdhip Lane with its independent boutiques, cinema and cafes.
Have a lovely weekend!
