Today we are about a month away from Blogtacular and if you are a creative blogger with a ticket safely printed and tucked away in your desk drawer, you must be just as excited as I am. If you are not familiar with this blogging conference for creative content-makers, then we need to right that wrong! Whether you have great ambitions for your blog, or want to network and collaborate with talented writers, photographers and makers, then I would strongly suggest looking into grabbing one of the few tickets left.
I speak from experience because I was lucky to attend the first ever edition last May and came away with a head full of strategic ideas, a notebook bursting with exclamation marks and a renewed drive and inspiration to dramatically improve and grow my blog. The day was gone in a heartbeat of course, but those hours listening intently to the expert speakers sharing years of knowledge, tips and best practices in the auditorium and intimate workshops of the Royal Institution are still vivid in my memory. There was a definite buzz in the air and I think for many bloggers and creatives there (including me), it felt like a turning point.
What I learned and understood on that day is largely responsible for encouraging me to rethink a lot of things about Hecticophilia: my blog layout, editorial line, social sharing, the importance of developing my skill set across photography, coding and design, SEO. It made me strive to consistently publish better content, to be committed, to not be afraid to network and ask questions, to pitch back, and to push myself. All that has had a big impact on the opportunities and relationships I have been fortunate to make in the year since.
I am proud of what I have achieved and I am grateful for the inspiration that Blogtacular gave me, so you will know I mean it when I say it is an honour to have been invited as a panel speaker this year and today, with just a month to go before the event, I wanted to celebrate this accomplishment and encourage some of you to go!
At its heart, Blogtacular is the ambitious dream of two women to bring together fellow creatives from all over the land to come network, learn, and be inspired by each other’s successes. More than a conference really, it is a community that celebrates talent, originality, hard work, being professional in a sometimes confusingly anonymous digital world, and going after what you want (sass!), but also being realistic about how to get there.
This June there will be talks and workshops with great speakers including on travel pitching by Monica from The Travel Hack, how to turn your blog into a full-time business by Fran from Fall for DIY, how to find your voice by the editors of Mollie Makes magazine, community and collaborative projects by Igor and Judith from Urban Jungle Bloggers, crafts by Davina and Hannah from Seeds and Stitches, an Instagram photo-walk with Xanthe Berkeley and Samee Lapham in partnership with West Elm and of course…
… an opening keynote by Grace Bonney from Design*Sponge, which that alone should be enough to convince you.
I am personally super looking forward to see her, she is such an inspiration! Author, businesswoman, champion of designers and makers, all-around creative, blogger and podcaster, where do we start? Blogtacular is really going to be an amazing day and you should come. Below is the showreel from last year, enjoy!
